Florence Marina

Sitting at the northern end of Lake Walter F. George and adjacent to a natural deep-water marina, Florence Marina State Park is popular among boaters, anglers and birders. This park near the Georgia-Alabama border offers a lighted fishing pier, boat slips and boat ramp. Visitors are likely to see herons, egrets and even bald eagles. The Kirbo Interpretive Center showcases local wildlife and plants and Native American history. The park also has two short nature trails, playgrounds and a miniature golf course. There is just one large picnic shelter.

Those making plans to visit the park could consider packing overnight bags and staying in one of the park’s fully equipped cottages, small efficiency units or the modern campground. In the morning, a quick drive will bring you to Providence Canyon State Park, known as Georgia’s Little Grand Canyon, which is located just 8 miles southeast of the park.
