Visitors will walk through centuries of culture at Hardman Farm Historic Site, located just south of Helen in White County. The Sautee Nacoochee Indian Mound is one of the best-known features of the park. The burial site is believed to have been used long before the Cherokee inhabited the area. Now, a gazebo sits atop the mound and cow pasture lies beyond it.
In addition to its Native American ties, visitors will also explore the legacy of the 19th century mansion, the families that lived there and the Nacoochee Dairy farm. Guided house tours allow visitors to explore the expansive, historic home with Italiante architecture and much of the original furniture. Kids will enjoy learning how milk was processed and transported and exploring the former horse barn. Seasonal events are held at the historic site throughout the year, including Christmas events with Santa.
