Whistle Stop Café

The café was one of the main sets for the 1991 film Fried Green Tomatoes, starring Jessica Tandy and Kathy Bates. The movie deals with a housewife who is unhappy with her life, befriends an old lady in a nursing home and is enthralled by the tales she tells of people she used to know, according to IMDB.com. One of the central fixtures of the movie is the Whistle Stop Café

Juliette was a bustling railroad community during the early 1900s. Over time, the railroad industry declined, and Juliette was nearly forgotten until 1991 when movie producers for the film ‘Fried Green Tomatoes’ discovered Juliette and reconstructed the existing buildings into the fictional community of Whistle Stop,” – Explore Georgia

If you’re driving from Atlanta, it takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to get there. If you’re coming up from Macon, then it’s only about 15 minutes outside city limits. 

And lastly, you won’t be disappointed by the fried green tomatoes. 

HOURS: The café is open from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily, but closed on Wednesdays. There are several other businesses to check out in this small little corner of Juliette.
