Rocky Mountain Recreational Area

On the outskirts of Rome, close to the Chattahoochee National Forest, is the perfect place for camping under the stars. There is plenty to do during the day at the Rocky Mountain Recreational Area including two lakes for fishing and paddling, bike and hiking trails, geocaching, archery and wildlife viewing. Settle into camp after a full day and enjoy the stars above. No light pollution here!

The two lakes are 202 & 357 acres. Anglers can catch largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, redear sunfish, crappie, and walleye. WMA license is not required but a valid Georgia Fishing License is required to fish on this area. This PFA has archery hunting opportunities for deer, turkey and small game. Waterfowl hunting is allowed on Antioch Lake and Heath Lake and hunters may use firearms. Please check the Hunting Regulations for more information. Please note that the Georgia State Park’s Pass is not accepted at Rocky Mountain.
