Morningside Nature Preserve (MNP) is 33.1 acres of woods in northeast Atlanta that is bisected by the South Fork Peachtree Creek. Originally known as the Wildwood Urban Forest, the preserve includes 2 miles of trails on both sides of the South Fork Peachtree Creek. The MNP has 2 trailheads:  one at Wellbourne Road and the other at the Georgia Power Substation on Lenox Road. This City of Atlanta park is located in the Lindridge Martin Manor neighborhood. Behind the park you will also find the trailhead to the Confluence Trail which continues under I-85 to the Confluence Bridge. This greenspace includes a playground with slides, swings, rock climbing walls, a small pavilion and soon a seesaw and picnic tables.

Zonolite Park, now owned by DeKalb County, features 1.5 miles of gravel trails through 13 acres. The area includes an old-growth forest, a sunny meadow, small rivulets and a beautiful wetland garden. The creek's sandy beach-like banks are perfect for getting an up-close view of the water. Wildlife seen here includes deer, fish, frogs and birds – including a pair of Great Blue Heron - songbirds and hawks. 

Peavine Creek is an important tributary to the South Fork meeting the larger creek at Old Briarcliff Road just below Sage Hill near Clifton Road.  The trail across the creek from Emory’s Peavine Road is a soft surfaced adventure in woods and at the foot of a steep slope where the creek forces its way through giant rock narrows. The entire trail is on Emory University property and visitors are expected to be good stewards of the school’s permission to use the trail.
